This Friday we are very happy to welcome behind the bar at Racines NY Josep Maria Pujol Busquets, the leading force behind the wines of Alta Alella, an organically certified and ecologically committed estate in Catalunya.
As the first producer of cava without added sulfites from the DO Cava (since the 2006 vintage), Alta Alella produces also a line of natural wines and cava at Celler de les Aus. The winery is located at the entrance of the Can Genís estate and has 2,000 square meters dedicated to the production of natural wine, among which stands out a viewpoint overlooking the Mediterranean and Barcelona. Built in the most eco-friendly (if needed, the cellar could be totally removed without leaving any trace in the landscape!), it is flanked by a fountain designed by the ornithologist and technical engineer Jordi Mares in order to preserve and observe the surroundings environment. The fountain has the function of facilitating bathing and watering to hydrate many species of birds that have their habitat in the vineyards and surrounding forests. Those birds are predators of insects and/or plants that could be a threat for the vineyard and are responsible for maintaining balance. The wines of the Celler de les Aus receive the name of these birds.
You can taste this very holistic approach of viticulture and winemaking in their wines! Josep will be pouring that night his 2016 Bruel Cava Brut Nature (Pansa Blanca), his 2015 Capsigrany Cava Brut Nature Pansa Rosada and for still the 2017 Tallarol DO Alella Pansa Blanca and his 2016 Merla DO Alella Mataro.
Join us at the bar to discover a very special estate! No reservation needed, tasting starts at 6pm, Josep will be there at 8pm!
